It's been a long time comin'
Dearest Blog,
Long time no write! I had all the time in the world but not the motivation. So I’ve got to start peddling again…get back on the horse or whatever idiom applies. It’s been a long time comin’.
Papa Bear, Man Cub and I have been fully vaccinated and I’m not feeling as tightly wound with worry as I had been. Whatever this pandemic has in store for us next, at least I’m feeling a little safer right now. I went to Walmart today (on a Sunday) which is something I would have never done once I started going back in the grocery store. I usually stick to when they first open when it’s not so people-y.
My mom and dad were here earlier this month and it was so wonderful having them for a few days. I was following mom on Find Friends and didn’t look to see where they were until they only had 19 more miles to drive. I started crying right then. It had been 14 months since we’d seen each other in person. The last time we Zoomed was in December. I don’t know who this has been harder on, big kids like me that want to see their parents or parents/grandparents that want to see their kids/grandchildren. I’ve been so happy for everyone that I’ve seen post a reunion and sad for everyone who won’t get one.
It’s just been hard on everyone period.
Mom and Dad’s visit was a surprise to Christopher. They came for his last football game of the season, and they arrived while he was at school. We were walking to the stands that evening just as everyone was asked to stand for the National Anthem. The football players were at the end of the field and stood to face the flag which we just happened to be standing right there. It was the sweetest thing to see his eyes light up. You just knew there was big smile under his mask.
We enjoyed a weekend of just sitting around enjoying each other’s company.
I’m hoping to be back more often to write again now that I have a smile in my heart.
